Welcome Message

January 27, 2025

Dear Charter Oak Unified School District Families,

As we embark on the second term of the 2024-2025 school year, I am excited to be back in session and working alongside our dedicated teachers and staff to provide the best possible education for our students.

Since starting my term as Superintendent earlier this month, I have emphasized my commitment to listening and learning from our community. I have spent the past few weeks meeting with stakeholders across our district, and I look forward to continuing these valuable conversations. In the coming months, I will be actively seeking feedback from parents on how we can best serve the needs of your children. Please stay tuned for upcoming opportunities to share your valuable insights.

This month, we celebrated the academic achievements of our outstanding students. I am delighted to announce that 800 students in our secondary schools earned a place on the Honor Roll, and students in our primary schools were recognized for their accomplishments, both inside and outside the classroom.

Beyond academics, our students continue to shine! Royal Oak Middle School is gearing up for its production of "Shrek Jr." the first weekend of February. This exciting production provides our students with valuable performance experience and allows them to showcase their talents. I encourage you to attend and support our young thespians.

Our Winter sports teams are also having a fantastic season! I invite you to come out and cheer on our talented athletes at upcoming basketball, water polo, wrestling, and soccer matches.

I am honored to serve as your Superintendent and look forward to working together with our entire community to ensure a successful and rewarding school year for all.

Warm regards,

Danny Kim, Ed.D.
Superintendent

We have received some questions about the federal government’s Changes to Sensitive Locations Policy, which refers to immigration enforcement on school grounds. We want to reassure you that our district remains deeply committed to protecting student privacy, ensuring safety, and fostering a supportive environment for all students.
