The Charter Oak Unified School District (COUSD) is currently seeking letters of interest from candidates for the appointment to the Personnel Commission as the Joint Commissioner, representing both COUSD Board of Trustees and California School Employee Association (CSEA), Chapter #309. The term of office will be December 1, 2024 through December 1, 2027.

 

The Personnel Commission is a public body responsible for the administration of a Merit System, which oversees the selection, retention, and promotion of Classified (non-teaching) employees in the public school system.  It is composed of three (3) members from the local community appointed for three-year terms with the term of one member expiring each year.

  

Each Personnel Commissioner receives the sum of $40.00 for each meeting attended in any one-month and medical benefits.  Personnel Commission meetings are normally held on the first Wednesday of the month at 3:00 p.m. at the District Office.

 

To qualify as a Personnel Commissioner, you must meet all the following criteria:

  • Be a registered voter and resident within the Charter Oak USD boundaries;
  • Be a known adherent to the principles of the Merit System and support the concept of employment, continuance in employment, in-service promotional opportunities, and other related matters on the basis of merit and fitness;
  • Not be a member of the governing board of any school district or county board of education;
  • Not be an employee of the Charter Oak Unified School District;
  • Be able to attend monthly Personnel Commission meetings at the Charter Oak Unified School District office at 3:00 p.m.
