Charter Oak High School recently completed a major renovation of its kitchen, a significant milestone in the school's history. The outdated facility, with its aging plumbing, wooden countertops, and inadequate ventilation, has been transformed into a modern, efficient workspace.
Key improvements include:
- Enhanced Hygiene and Safety: New stainless-steel countertops and work surfaces facilitate easy cleaning and meet the highest health standards.
- Improved Efficiency: The installation of new plumbing, including a recirculation system for instant hot water and energy-efficient appliances, enhances operational efficiency and reduces water waste.
- Enhanced Employee Morale: The upgraded kitchen provides a more comfortable and professional working environment for the dedicated kitchen staff, boosting morale and pride in their work.
"We are incredibly grateful for this much-needed renovation," said Adrianne Garza, Director of Food Services. "This project not only improves the quality of meals served to our students but also enhances the working conditions for our hardworking kitchen staff. We are committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for everyone in our school community."
The kitchen serves approximately 1,000 meals daily, including breakfast, lunch, and supper for students enrolled in after school activities. This renovation was made possible through funding from the California Department of Education's Kitchen Infrastructure and Training (KIT) program, which recognizes the critical importance of modern kitchen facilities in supporting student health and well-being.
This project demonstrates the district's commitment to providing a high-quality learning environment for all students, including a healthy and nutritious meal program.
