Welcome Message

January 6, 2025

Dear Charter Oak Families,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a joyful and restful winter holiday season with your loved ones. As we welcome 2025, I am honored to introduce myself as the new Superintendent of Charter Oak Unified School District.

For the past several years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. In that role, I worked closely with our schools, staff, and families to support our students’ learning and growth. Stepping into this new role, I am excited to build on the strong relationships we’ve cultivated and continue working together to ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.

As I transition into this role, my first priority is to build on our district’s strengths while identifying new opportunities for growth and innovation. I am committed to fostering meaningful family engagement as we collectively shape the future of our district. I will be reaching out to our families in the upcoming months to gather your ideas on how we might strengthen our district.

Thank you for entrusting us with your child’s education. I am inspired daily by the dedication of our students, families, and staff. Together, I know we can continue to create extraordinary opportunities for our students and prepare them for bright futures.

Here’s to a fantastic year ahead—one filled with collaboration, progress, and success for all!
Warm regards,

Danny Kim, Ed.D.

Charter Oak USD - Weather Conditions Update #2

Dear Charter Oak USD Families,

I hope this message finds you safe and well. I want to thank you for trusting our schools with your students today. As well, I want to thank our faculty and staff for ensuring school was a space for your students to feel safe, to learn, and to belong.

We are scheduled to open all schools tomorrow, Thursday, January 9. We will continue actively monitoring the weather advisory, and conditions at all sites through the evening, and into the morning. Should anything drastically change, you will receive notification from my office.

Additionally, we will continue to monitor the air quality and wind conditions throughout tomorrow’s school day, and take appropriate precautions to keep students and staff safe.

Again, thank you for your understanding and your continued partnership.
